FILM FAQ

Our intention behind producing this film is to inspire an active movement toward a grief-informed society.

A society where:

  • We recognize the prevalence of grief among all of us
  • We learn to notice and feel the grief in ourselves & others with my compassion & kindness
  • We acknowledge that whenever we have an emotional reaction, an old wound is being triggered & we may have some past grief to process
  • We understand the imprint of unprocessed grief on our behaviors and its impact on our relationships
  • We recognize and witness the pain, grief, or sadness in others versus trying to fix or take away their pain
  • We learn to observe, feel & allow our own sadness and sorrow without having to fix or take it away
  • We support connection and compassion as the foundations of safety

I initially set out to make this film to help others heal their grief as I thought it needed to be fixes. As I began the interviews, I realized I had past grief that really needed to be felt, loved & addressed. In doing so, I was able to connect deeper with my heart & come back to life again. After helping so many others experience this same level of freedom I felt compelled to create a film that would help reach more people to share some of the lessons I learned to help create more awareness & a more grief-informed society.

This film was shot from Oct 2014 – Dec 2022 in Reno, NV, Manhattan Beach, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Malibu, CA, San Diego, CA, Portland, OR, Scottsdale, AZ, Big Bear, CA, Idyllwild, CA.

I reached out to several sources for interviews and they were not open to give me their perspective. I did not feel it was fair to give my interpretation as there is a big split amongst grief experts and so I shared my personal experience in my own healing & those I was able to help with healing in what I found to be most effective.

This film is almost entirely focused on grief. I did one interview with the founder of the Trauma Release Exercises but other than that it’s solely grief focused. I’ve spent a lot of time studying trauma and I found grief is the origin point of where we experienced heart-break. Often when not addressed it turns into trauma so I see them so close to one another.

I Initially had a title from Grief to Grace. However, As time went on I realized how hard it was for people to lean into grief, yet how 99% of society is carrying past unprocessed grief. In my experience the more we can see it as a gift to access & be with our heart the easiest it becomes to lean into it. In no way is it bypassing the very real & painful emotions that we go through that do not feel like a gift when we are in pain. However, if we avoid dealing with our grief is can get much worse & affects so many areas of our lives. So looking at it as a gift or sacred allows us to lean in a little deeper to the painful feelings & emotions that surface regarding grief.

The film will be offered by optional contribution for as little as $1, as we intend to allow the broadest access possible.

A portion of all proceeds will go to supporting the non-profit grief organizations on this page. Additionally, I am creating ways for organizations to share this film & receive 50% of the proceeds as affiliates to create greater support to share this film & message.

Finally, our vision is to create a more grief-informed world so we will be using a portion of the proceeds to create programming for schools & churches to keep having this conversation & sharing the lessons from this film.
